The diagnosis is fracture of the parietal bone.
Sutures on skull films are frequently confused with fractures. Sutures, however, are serpiginous and don’t run in a straight line.

CT is the study of choice for the evaluation of head trauma when radiography is indicated, given its sensitivity and ability to identify intracranial injury.

As a next step, infants with simple linear fractures should be admitted for overnight observation regardless of neurological status.
