Diagnosis: Bedbugs
Bedbugs are 4- to 5-mm ovoid, flat, wingless, reddish-brown nocturnal blood-sucking insects. They hide during the day in seams of mattresses, crevices in box springs, and cracks in floors and walls. Bedbugs have recently re-emerged as a significant problem in cities, particularly in apartments and hotels. Patients present with pruritic urticaria-like papules at the sites of bites. These occur most often on exposed areas such as the face, neck, arms, and hands but are also seen frequently on the trunk. The papules often take on a linear configuration of three or four lesions (\”breakfast, lunch, and dinner\”).
