Urgent care is coming back strong after initial setbacks at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. First, tests were in short supply. Then patients were afraid of visiting healthcare facilities in general unless it was a dire emergency, over concerns that they could get infected there. Visits plummeted. At the same time, of course, the retail business has been sustaining unprecedented economic damage. They’re rebounding, too, albeit more slowly than urgent care. Now the industries are banding together in some places, with retailers looking to urgent care for an assist in helping shoppers feel safe and stay healthy. In New Jersey, the American Dream shopping and entertainment complex called on Hackensack Meridian Health to set up an urgent care center on the premises, and to take part in a related COVID-19 health advisory. The 10-year, contracted partnership will also look to launch health education initiatives on site.
