Grocery chain Hy-Vee has become a joint owner of Exemplar Care, and the business line is now rebranded as Hy-Vee Health Exemplar Care, according to a press release. Existing centers will be renamed to Hy-Vee Health Exemplar Care, offering direct primary care and 24/7 urgent care where available. The model is targeted to employer groups who provide their employees prepaid access to unlimited primary and urgent care through memberships. There are 4 existing clinics in Iowa with 1 ribbon cutting expected this week and other locations planned for the future. Officials are looking at potential sites in Kansas, Nebraska, and other cities in Iowa, according to the Business Record.

What else? Hy-Vee currently operates 275 retail pharmacies across 8 Midwestern states plus a national specialty pharmacy, according to its website. In 2020, Hy-Vee formed its own pharmacy benefit manager and in recent years launched a telehealth and online pharmacy portal. Last year, Hy-Vee opened 2 infusion care medical practices in West Des Moines, Iowa, and Chicago, Illinois.
