Even urgent care centers, known for their ability to get patients in and out far more efficiently than other settings, can seem too slow for some patients on a given day. New technologies are improving systems all the time, though, making it possible for patients to cut the time of an urgent care visit even further. For one, PhysicianOne Urgent Care offers patients the chance to view the current wait time at any of its locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York on the company’s website, then fill out a short form to check-in and hold a spot in a virtual line. The system sends them a text when it’s time to go to the urgent care center, allowing patients the luxury of staying put instead of hanging around the waiting room, possibly being exposed to other patients (and vice versa).
