A recent survey conducted by Physicians Practice provides some benchmarking insight for operators regarding staff salaries. According to survey respondents, more than a quarter of them say their full-time nurse practitioners earn within the range of $100,000-$125,000; only a small percentage earn less than $75,000 a year. As for medical assistants, the largest portion of survey respondents (37%) pin those salaries in the range of $30,000 to $40,000 a year with another 23% saying they pay $40,000 to $50,000. Meanwhile, front desk staff most commonly earns $30,000 to $40,000 a year with 43% of respondents choosing this range.Â
Costs may vary: What was interesting about the salary survey was the wide distribution of responses when it comes to salaries for billers and coders. The bulk of these positions are paid $30,000 to $60,000, but about 3% of respondents say they pay their billers and coders more than $100,000 a year.
