Urgent message: Cutaneous abscesses are common presentations in urgent care. While either methicillin-sensitive or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus accounts for up to 75% of skin abscesses, atypical organisms such as nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTMB) can also lead to abscess formation.
