Peter Lamelas, MD, MBA, one of urgent care’s industry leaders, has been appointed by President Elect Trump as the US Ambassador to Argentina. As the founder of MD Now Urgent Care, the Cuban-born physician and entrepreneur grew the brand to 59 centers, which were acquired in 2022 by HCA Healthcare. Certified in emergency medicine with more than 20 years of experience, Lamelas was also a founding member of the Urgent Care Association (UCA) and joined the Urgent Care College of Physicians, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the Florida Medical Association. Twice he was elected to the UCA Board of Directors and has served as Chairman of the UCA Legislative Committee. As a member of the UCA Certification and Accreditation Committee, he was instrumental in the development of the committee’s prescribed criteria.

Ongoing work: Many leaders in urgent care know Lamelas and his achievements in the industry. Now as Principal and Managing Partner at MDN Partners, Inc., he advises on investment, private equity, strategic advisory services, and business development. Lamelas met Argentine President Javier Milei at Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago in November, according to the Buenos Aires Herald.
